    3. My DNA test was done by ancestry, so there may be different areas or titles of areas used. This is what I got (Nothing from Africa at all) I got my DNA done through ancestry. Their evaluations may be worded or titled differently. I have: Great Britain 54% Europe West (including France): 11% Ireland 10% Scandinavia: 10% Italy/Greece: 9% Trace Regions - Asia South: < 1% Finland/Northwest Russia 2% Caucasus: 2% Great Britain 54% Europe West (includes France) 11% Ireland 10% Scandinavia 10% Italy/Greece 9% Trace regions in Europe 3% Finland/Northwest Russia 2% Europe East < 1% West Asia trace regions Caucasus 2% Asia Asia South < 1% I'm not sure where any Scandanavian would come from, but I am sure those folks moved around a bit, and intermarried, and the name might have been lost over the years. My mother's side was the Meddaugh line, in which was found the Thibaudeau line. Both were pretty strong lines, and intermarried in Canada. There were even first cousins marrying, but that was no surprise. My dad's side was the Irish thing. 3. My husband, Rocky Boudreaux, had his DNA tested through Ancestry. Ireland 42% Italy/Greece 36% Iberian Peninsula 11% Great Britain 6% Europe East 4% Europe West 1% We were surprised at Rocky's high per cent for Ireland and low for Iberian Peninsula. Then we were told that the only testing for DNA in France that is allowed is for paternal testing. Now Rocky feels his DNA is not correct. Rocky connects to both BROUSSARD brothers, his mother direct back to Joseph and his dad a grandmother who goes back to Alexandre. Between his parents he connects to Michel and Michelle AUCOIN BOUDREAUX 5 different ways. I think between his parents he can claim, if not a direct ancestor, "kissin cousins" to almost all who have Acadian heritage. He also has a German line, FOLSE and of course French such as BEGNAUD, TAUZIN and a few others. My mother's side was the Meddaugh line, in which was found the Thibaudeau line. Both were pretty strong lines, and intermarried in Canada. There were even first cousins marrying, but that was no surprise. My dad's side was the Irish thing. 3. IS IT TIME TO RETIRE THE LIST? No, even after all these years still learning Who are you? Terry Dugas Dupuis Where you are? St Martinville, Louisiana, born, raised and will die here Where & when were your families last in one of our "homelands"? My family have been in south and southwest Louisiana since my ancestor Joseph dit Beausoliel Broussard, arrived in Louisiana with his misfits from Nova Scotia. I haven't done a complete check but I may have family from every ship that arrived carrying Acadian's to Louisiana, listed on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial What families are you researching? What Period? Dugas, Trahan, Dupuis, Melancon, Thibodeaux, Broussard and nearly all of the Acadian Families who arrived in Louisiana after the deportation. I usually stay within the Acadian Period in Canada and US Some French families Champagne, Delhomme, Berard, Chauvin, and others, mostly Europe after 1700 unless information should come up. Have you had your DNA done which tests? yes, myself and my husband, from Ancestry, no real surprises Any other Genealogical projects you are working on? yes working with family and friends with Brasseaux, Bourque, Salles, Hardy, Lavergne / Pitre, and Hill / Talley families What else would you like us to know? * A fact of life we don't think about very often, *I will be 74 soon and realize I have no family member that wants to do genealogy, what to do with all the files, notes, book library and personal computer with family trees I have accumulated and worked on for so many years. I have my tree on Ancestry no problem there but I have an office filled with research. I think I need a plan of some sort. * I could use some help with ideas. * . What family associations do you belong to? While working at the Acadian Memorial, many Do you have a blog, web site or online database you would like to share? no Any unique resources you will do lookups? nothing unique but happy to help Do you like the "how related" we occasionally do? Do more, less, too personal? love learning who is related Do you like our holiday breaks with recipes, family stories & traditions? yes *Terry*
