You could get to these places by bus, BUT you would have to walk about a mile from the main road to Forgue, and bus journeys on most of the routes are every two hours, and you would need to change several times. Much better to rent a car. Last time I did this I stayed at the Travelodge at Bucksburn, pretty basic and cheap, but with a restaurant next door, and very convenient for the airport and all the places you mention. With a car also you can see many of the spendours of Aberdeenshire, but I should not have chosen yuletide to do it! Thank you Tony for your reply to my posting. It would appear that it would be advantageous to hire a car and I will check out the Travelodge. We are considering August/September next year all going well, so I have plenty of time to plan this trip well.
