To: "angue@rootsweb.com" <angue@rootsweb.com>, "aberdeen@rootsweb.com" <aberdeen@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <BLU176-W13431E366D72AB22641F08D9BC0@phx.gbl> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" I have had trouble finding the marriage notice for John Glennie & Jane Mennie, whose first child (William Glenny/Glennie) was born in 1794 in Peterculter, Scotland. Maybe they never married, but they did have two more (at least) children, Mary born 1802 and Alexander born 1797. I have checked all over the place, including Scotlandspeople, Family Search/Ancestry. I even went to IGI. Can anyone suggest any other place to check this out? Anne Godfrey ********************************** Anne - stone numbered 90 in "The Kirkyard of Peterculter" by Gordon Johnson says [it was hard to read in 1988, and probably worse now] "In memory of John Glennie, late farmer in Brotherfield....died 18 ..7...???? also Jane Mennie, spouse to the said John Glennie, died 19 Sept 1836?, aged 77; their son Alexander Glennie died 30 Sept 1873 aged 78 years." This inscription clearly states that Jane was his spouse, and so they were indeed married, whether you find a formal marriage entry or not.Reagrds, Gordon Johnson.
