Maybe they never married, but they did have two more (at least) children, Mary born 1802 and Alexander born 1797. I have checked all over the place, including Scotlandspeople, Family Search/Ancestry. I even went to IGI. Can anyone suggest any other place to check this out? The Parish of Peterculter appears to have obeyed the instruction to surrender their Registers to the Registrar General in 1855. In his survey of the Old Parochial Records (published 1872) he lists records of Baptism dating from 1643 and of Deaths from 1647. However, he shows proper Marriage records as not starting until 1818. Prior to that date, all that survived was apparently records of Proclamations. It seems likely, then, that there was no earlier Register of Marriages. Gavin Bell
