Many thanks Alison, Howard and George. I will certainly have a look at all your suggestions. Hopefully one thing leads to another. Alison I was always lead to be believe by family gossip that there was a women's part to the Masons ?? I will write and see what I can find out. Howard unfortunately I have my doubts on that family as there are 3 discrepancies Age, father's Christian name and Mother's surname. I did find another Geddes family in Banff with a John 10yrs Father James but he is a farmer with 100 acres whereas John's Father was a railway worker (forgot to mention that in first email) Mother is a lot younger so could be a second wife. George I have just printed out that death I didn't know anything about Minor records Marine returns It fits pretty well in fact very well, only the year is a few before I had been told but that could be wrong. Thanks Angela > My great Grandfather John Geddes was at sea in all the census since his > marriage His wife Margaret Geddes ( M.S.
