    3. The Ordnance Survey placename books of the 19th C (1865 - 71) refer to the remains of Frendraught Castle, which was burnt in 1630. A separate entry follows for Frendraught House, which is described as the "Mansion house of the Estate of Frendraught". A digital copy of the original can be viewed at http://www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/digital-volumes/ordnance-survey-name-books/aberdeenshire-os-name-books-1865-1871/aberdeenshire-volume-31on pages 54 - 55. However, those who aren't volunteer transcribers must subscribe in order to access this material.
