I agree wholeheartedly with you on this Jen. I have already contacted FMP and told them that the site is now a nightmare and should be returned to the old format which worked perfectly well. Not only is the new format a step in the wrong direction but it simply does not work. I have searched the census records for people that I know should be there, as they were there in the old site, and they have disappeared, not just odd people but in droves. I have searched on Scotland's People for certain family members and found 20 in one village in 1871 yet on FMP there were none. I suggest rather than just ignoring them that everyone should let them know that the site did not need a facial, it was perfect as it was. They have removed the ability to search using place of birth and occupations. My advice - save your money until they have fixed all the problems! Jen. A quick search for one of my surnames (WATT) on both sites gave the following figures Census Scotlands People Find My Past Extra on SP % Extra 1841 6,456 6,173 283 4.38% 1851 7,028 7,239 -211 -3.00% 1861 7,496 7,567 -71 -0.95% 1871 8,130 8,319 -189 -2.32% 1881 9,207 9,177 30 0.33% 1891 10,314 10,269 45 0.44% 1901 11,232 11,264 -32 -0.28% I assume some of the difference is due to variations in the name's spellings, and obviously not all names will be as complete as others. I did find that the transcriptions on the old site had some obvious errors (in the place names) such as having "G&E" (a separate column? for Language spoken) in the middle of the placename. One example was under Where Born was "Rosskeen G&E, Ross & Cromarty" and "Ardersier G&E, Invernessshire". I have not looked at the actual image on SP yet, but I assume that the transcription was NOT done by someone familier with Genealogy or English :-) Colin On 2 April 2014 08:44, Wendy Burns <wendy@jcres20.force9.co.uk> wrote: > I agree wholeheartedly with you on this Jen. Hi all Sorry but when I cut Wendy's post I should have made it clear that we were talking about FMP and not SP.
