    3. Interesting! Can you tell me if Alexanders or the widow Lesly lived at Frendraught House ca. 1786? They aren't my ancestors (mine came from Sheffield and from Ireland,) but I'd like to add the info to the notes on George Alexander's will - his sibs' descendants might be interested. Here's the will: PROB 11/1143/417, image 447: Will of George ALEXANDER, 1786: Black River, Musquito Shore. I, George Alexander of the Shore, Merchant, in an ill state of health… As soon as convenient after my decease I desire my Exors residing on the Musquito Shore sell and dispose of all property I may have on the Shore, the neat proceeds of which, together with the Debts due me on the Shore as soon as they can be collected, I desire may be remitted into the hands of my Exor in Great Britain to be placed at Interest in the Public Funds. I bequeath to my Honored Mother Jane LESLY, widow of Alexander Alexander of Frouchaught in the Parish of Fergey and shire of Aberdeen in North Britain, ₤25 Sterling to be paid to her Annually during her natural life from the Interest arising from the proceeds of my Estate so vested in the Public Funds, or failing that, from the whole or any part of my Estate of every kind and nature soever. On the decease of my Mother Jane Lesly it is my will and pleasure that the Remainder and Residue of my Estate so invested! shall be equally divided between my dear Brother Nathaniel Alexander and my two dear Sisters Christian and Helen Alexander, their Heirs or Executors, or the Survivor or Survivors of them. Exors: John DAVIDSON and James USHER Esqrs. on the Shore, and John SIMPSON of the City of London, Merchant and Partner of James GRAHAM my Exor in Great Britain. 28 Oct 1785. [Signed] Geo. ALEXANDER, LS. Wit: David LAMB, Edwd H. HILL, Robert DOUGLAS. Now we know that Frouchart was Frondraught, and the parish was Fergue. Isn't history fascinating! The Ordnance Survey placename books of the 19th C (1865 - 71) refer to the remains of Frendraught Castle, which was burnt in 1630. A separate entry follows for Frendraught House, which is described as the "Mansion house of the Estate of Frendraught". A digital copy of the original can be viewed at http://www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/digital-volumes/ordnance-survey-name-books/aberdeenshire-os-name-books-1865-1871/aberdeenshire-volume-31on pages 54 - 55.
