    3. Completely wrong parliament Guy. MPs sit in the UK parliament in England whereas the rules governing Scotland's People are decided by MSPs in the Scottish Parliament. The petition is to open up English and Welsh records. Even if passed and implemented it would have no impact on the Scottish records. Basically the petition for England and Wales wants to achieve the same accessibility to records in the rest of the UK that we already enjoy in Scotland. So by all means sign the petition but we need a completely different petition to introduce a subscription method of payment for Scotland's people. As I said before several members of this very email list are local Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire Councillors people who helped get the local MSPs elected. They could be a route to the ear of the MSPs to instigate change. As far as I am aware it doesn't require legislation only for the minister in charge to propose changing the rules and for those changes to be approved.
