Gordon, One out of left field, but worth a try. I have a Barbara Shirrefs SMITH b. 28 July 1840 (don't have parents, record came from National Archives and have not checked). Barbara was apparently the adopted daughter of Shirrefs Lumsden Shirrefs (of Blairmormond) and she married James Francis Gordon Shirrefs on 12 Dec 1861. He succeeded to Craig in Auchindoir (as Laird) in 1863 and adopted the patronymic GORDON. Barbara died at Grant Lodge, Elgin in 1892. Could this be your Barbara? Robin
