Otherwise are you sure it is the same Ann DUNCAN? Sometime around 1813 in New Deer, Alexander SHIRRAN & Ann DUNCAN had a daughter, Barbara. Around 1817, also in New Deer, they had a second daughter - Sophia. Although Sophia's mother is given as "Barbara DUNCAN" on the death certificate I think this was a mistake by their very much younger step brother. There are no other records of this Ann DUNCAN but Alexander SHIRRAN [1787-1858] definitely married Isobel ROSS in Tyrie in 1820 [OPR] and had two further recorded marriages to Ann CADGER [1835 and Elspet CLARK [1848]. Alexander & Ann CADGER are Sheena's g-g-grandparents. Our Ann DUNCAN [not an unusual name!!] having a child in 1813 would mean her birth was prior to 1795-ish and a child in 1854 would be very unlikely. So there are probably at least two Ann DUNCANs and possibly three. Maybe it was something to do with the name!! We'd be very pleased to hear if you find out anything else, Don. -- Best wishes Ray *************************************************************** >From Ray Hennessy Forenames website: www.whatsinaname.net Preferred Email address: ray@whatsinaname.net Hints for Scotland's People at http://bit.ly/WIAN-SCP ***************************************************************
