    3. Hi everyone. Only yesterday I was able to locate the family of Janet Innes who married John Harper on the 8 Jan.1892 in Aberdeen. Jane was the 1st. born of William Innes and Margaret Shaw and they lived at Craighead Farm in Glenlivet, Banff. The 1901 Census and after the death of Janet on the 24 Jan.1898 shows that John Harper lived at 44 Holburn Road in Aberdeen and had remarried. I was able to confirm that the following children; Catherine age 8 and Jane Ann age 6 were Jane Innesses children. There are two more children shown: John Harper age 5 and Maggie J Harper age 3 but was unable to find extracts for them. The place of residence for the two children of Jane was at 10 Fish Street in Aberdeen. As I mentioned Jane died on the 24 Jan.1898 and was buried in the Nellfield Cemetery in Aberdeen. Would love to know if John and Maggie J Harper were Jane's children and also if she had a cemetery plot in the Nellfield cemetery and who might have been buried in that same plot. William

One of the Johns was born in St Machar in 1895. I have only got the Hit List for Harpers so haven't looked at the Images If you get a copy of the Maggie Jessie HARPER birth certificate I imagine you will find that she was daughter of John and Jaet HARPER. The clue is in the middle name - Jessie is a common synonym for Janet. I would also guess that Janet died in childbirth or soon after and that may be shown on the birth certificate. The alternative that Maggie may have been born at the end of 1898 is unlikely because she would have been "2" at the time of the 1901 Census. As her age was given as "3" it is most likely she was born in the first quarter. I'd guess mid to late January. If she is the one you want then have a look at the BC of John HARPER born in St Machar in 1895. I'd lay odds he is the one you want. If not have a look at the other Johns born around that time. [PS I believe your 4th paragraph should say "Janet" not "Jane".] -- Best wishes Ray ********************************************************** >From Ray Hennessy Forenames website: www.whatsinaname.net Preferred Email address: ray@whatsinaname.net Hints for Scotland's People at http://bit.ly/WIAN-SCP **********************************************************

    3. Thanks Ray. Yes, "senior moments" do occur at time. I as wable to locate the extracts for John Harper and Jessie Ann Harper ( under a different name ) I wouldn't worry to much about the name Jane or Janet. You see, for the record, my Jane was given this name which was recorded on her birth record.
