Hi Leonie, There isn't a William Gray but there is a James Gray aged 21 born Longside, Abds. This is the only crew list I have got as my Gt.Grandfather was on board this ship. The problem is the lists aren't indexed so it involves an awful lot of time and patience. All crew lists from 1857-1860 are held at the Public Record Office, Kew. After that date they are held in various places in the UK and some in Newfoundland. There is a long term project to index crew lists known as the 'Clip' project. So far one CD has been issued covering 270,000 entries for various lists between 1863 and 1913. This is an ongoing project and no doubt will lead to other releases in the future. You could try contacting www.GenealogySupplies.com for a copy of what they have produced. My husband has been interested in ships for ever so is quite knowledgeable about the records so was a great help to me, nevertheless, my gt.gt.grandfather remains elusive. The nearest to the 1850s is a Wm.Gray age 41 born Hull for 1863 and another for 1866 born Cromarty. Let me know if one of these could possibly your William. Mary.
