I'm told by my girls who are 'computer geeks', that all is not lost because the computer crashes; you just need someone with the know-how to find the info. I hope this is true for you. I often wonder what would happen here if I crashed..and shudder to think about it. One of our friends has another hard drive and he puts all of his genealogy research on the spare hard drive, then if his regular one crashes, he has the other one with all intack. But that takes more understanding than I have.......it may make sense to others out there. Basically what you should do is mzke a copy of your gedcom and put it on a disk, a usb drive, or an external hard drive. To make a copy open up your file and do a save as and then pick another location. Or drag the file into another location and it should copy. If someone needs more specific instructions contact me off list. We spend too much of our lives tracking our relatives, we don't want to loose what we have because of an equipment failure.
