"Must be"? Sez who? "Peterheed" is certainly how the name is often pronounced by NE natives - but folk from outside the immediate area will call it "Peterhead". I would suggest that neither of these pronunciations is "wrong", and that trying to enforce the one or the other is doomed undertaking. Many names, for both places and people, have more than one pronunciation. Rather than try to enforce the use of one or the other, I suggest accepting - and indeed welcoming - the variations.
