I have a crew list for the "North of Scotland" sailing out of Peterhead in 1856. There is a William Burnet listed aged 22 born Tyrie who was a cook's mate. His conduct was very good. The spelling of Tyrie looks like Tyre and as this Tyrie looks closest to Peterhead I opted for this one. I also have an interest in the name Burnett but have hit a brick wall but I can find no connection to William. Sorry there are no Walkers on the list Goldie. Mary.
Thank you so much for thinking about me! 2ND THOUGHT ~~ Do you perchance, have any other records of ships out of Peterhead with Walkers on them? 1800's forward to the 1900's........sounds like a 'stupid question', but I was told once that 'there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers'...so I thought I would try..(???) Searching for lost sailors out of Peterhead is worse than the proverbial haystack!! Hi Mary Would there be a William Gray on that crew list or any other list from the 1850's? I did a fair amount of reading trying to get the Walker family, and I do know the Gray family was also a Whaling family. There is a Peterhead site and some whaling info on it. Google for it, I can't recall just what it was called but it was Peterhead. I'll go thru my notes and see if I can find anything on the Gray's, but don't hold your breath. This is a long hard go finding whalers.
