Stonehaven, ... entries for the town are split between the Parishes of Fetteresso & Dunnottar. ___________________________ Thanks Alex. I'm unfamiliar with KCD and assumed Stonehaven would be a parish in its own right! Silly me. Jim >From Alex's steer, I've now found William in 1841 living with Ann at High St Stonehaven .He is shown as 55 and Ann as 60 which suggests she was older than him - although they may both have been born at either end of 1781 as the 1841 Census was taken in June. In 1851 William seems to be widowed and living in Old Machar with his daughter Ann. [assuming this it the right man]. If this is so then Ann CULLEN will have died in the 1841-1851 period and her death will not have been registered. This isn't to say her death has "fallen into a records hole", just that there was no obligation for it to be recorded so it probably wasn't. Unfortunate but there it is. If you want to trawl through the MIs to see if there is a stone commemorating them, go to Gavin's site at http://www.abdnet.co.uk/mi-index/ Click on "Surname Search" Enter LUMSDEN and click on "Literal" and then step down the kirkyards looking for Williams If there is an MI with a William LUMSDEN and an Ann LUMSDEN/CULLEN on the same stone you may have hit pay dirt. Hope you have a good holiday and this will wait for your return. -- Best wishes Ray ********************************************************** >From Ray Hennessy Forenames website: www.whatsinaname.net Preferred Email address: ray@whatsinaname.net Hints for Scotland's People at http://bit.ly/WIAN-SCP **********************************************************
