Many thanks Kathy, I will keep this to see if it ties in with mine. Mention of "Old Deer, Banffshire" suggests that that they may have been born in or near the village of Fetterangus. This small area of the parish of Old Deer was reckoned, until 1891, as belonging to Banffshire, although it lay, surrounded by Aberdeenshire, some distance from the rest of Banffshire. In 1891, the anomaly was removed by "repatriating" Fetterangus to Aberdeenshire.
