Jim See my other email for instructions on the ANESFHS MI Index [ANESFHS = Aberdeen & North East Scotland Family History Society. They publish booklets of MIs for the north east and elsewhere. These are indexed on-line by Gavin Bell at http://www.abdnet.co.uk/mi-index/ The Kirkyards are listed but I don't know which is in Dunnottar parish. You may have to plough through them. Unfortunately there are now two threads going in parallel on this subject. My other email is possibly all wrong but the Chelsea Pensioner, the Shoemaker and the Gardener may all be different people. You may need to invest quite a bit in Scotland's People [like maybe 50-60 credits] to have a look at the various death certificates - maybe for every one of these folk who were alive after 1855. You could check with Ancestry but it is notably fallible with Scottish Records. Far better to invest in ScP in my view. -- Best wishes Ray ********************************************************** >From Ray Hennessy Forenames website: www.whatsinaname.net Preferred Email address: ray@whatsinaname.net Hints for Scotland's People at http://bit.ly/WIAN-SCP **********************************************************

    3. Message to Ray Regarding my search for William Lumsden, shoemaker, Chelsea pensioner born ~1782 in Gamrie Banff. I have received paperwork from a military researcher in England about William Lumsden of Gamrie 1815 at 34 years member of the 103rd regiment discharged in 1815 in Quebec Canada after 3 years. His occupation in the documents was shoemaker so we have a lot of pieces that fit. His marriage in Gamrie is 1816 after his discharge. Birth of his son William is 1809 in Gamrie before military service. This would suggest he was the son of Jeremiah Lumsden (shoemaker) born May 1782 and Mary Robertson. Since I do not have a death record for William Lumsden b ~1782 or his wife Ann Callum b~1782 to confirm things, I need to ask another member to do a lookup of the unpublished Fetteresso cemetery records for death dates. They lived in Stonehaven (Fetteresso and Dunnottar parishes) from 1824 to the 1851 census. After that I can find nothing. Thanks Jim Lumsden -------------------------------------------------- From: "Jim Lumsden" <jim.lumsden@sympatico.ca> Sent: Thursday, February 11, 2010 8:29 PM To: <aberdeen@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [ABERDEEN] Lumsden in Stonehaven Scotland > Boy that web site is great ! This term means "recorded at ANESFHS in draft form but not yet published". Going by Gavin's map on the MI Index website, there is no Fetteresso burial ground named as such. The nearest ones are Cowie [Parish of Fetteresso] and Dunnottar. Both are published by ANESFHS [AA117 and AA127 respectively] but if you examine the MI Index for them, there are NO LUMSDEN burials on the inscriptions. So even if you purchased the booklets it would not help. Sorry, mate. -- Best wishes Ray ********************************************************** >From Ray Hennessy Forenames website: www.whatsinaname.net Preferred Email address: ray@whatsinaname.net Hints for Scotland's People at http://bit.ly/WIAN-SCP **********************************************************
