Hello again Ann, I found the family I sent you earlier, throughout the earlier Census records. William Gordon Sr., is aged 12, on the farm Middlemuir in the parish of Methlick in Aberdeenshire in the 1871 Census. His father was John Gordon (b. abt 1801 in Methlick, Aberdeenshire), his mother, Jane (b. abt 1820, in Old Deer, this time it states Aberdeenshire). He had one sister, Jane, b. abt 1852; and brothers James, b abt 1853; John, b abt 1855 (this would be a good one to search for on Scotlandspeople!); Alexander, b. abt 1857; George, b. abt 1862; and Peter, b. abt 1862 (possibly twins). All the children were born in the parish of Methlick. Jane's brother was with them, this time his name was James Norris, b. abt 1817 in Old Deer, Aberdeenshire). In the 1861 Census, John and Jane Gordon are on the same farm in the parish of Methlick. Daughter Jane is 9, James is 7, John is 6, Alexander is 4, and William is 2. Jane's brother, James, is with them as a ploughman, aged 45. John Sr. states he was born in Methlick, and Jane and her brother John state that they were born in Old Deer, Aberdeenshire. All children were born in Methlick. In the 1851 Census, John and Jane are on the same farm, Middlemuir, in the parish of Methlick. There are no children yet, however, Jane's brother, James is living with them as a farm labourer (his surname is recorded as Norrie), b. abt 1818, in Old Deer, Aberdeenshire, and Jane was b. abt 1821 in Old Deer, Aberdeenshire. John's mother, Jannet, was living with them, aged 79, b. abt 1772, in the parish of Methlick. In the 1841 Census, John is living at Middlemuir, in Methlick, with his mother, Jannet, age 65, b. abt 1776 (age was rounded down to the nearest 5 year interval), in Aberdeenshire, and James Norrie, age 20, born in Aberdeenshire, It would be wise to look at the original records on Scotlandspeople, as the above information comes from Ancestry.com, who are known to have transcription errors. You can also look for the marriage records in the registers, and Old Parish Records, along with baptisms and births, if this proves to be your family. Hope this helps. Kathy Stevenson Ontario, Canada
