    3. I have a question to ask of the group. My ancestor, Silas P. Wooten, enlisted at Halifax, Virginia in 1780 to fight against the British. Is there someplace that has records about where a soldier would be most likely to enlist. It seems that there were places that the men would meet to join and enlist. I have suspicions that Silas could have been from Guilford County. Would Halifax have been the place that was closest for enlistment? Or is it more likely that Silas lived close to Halifax? Were there places to enlist in NC? Does anyone have any experience with these questions during the Revolution in the 1780 time frame?

    3.  After employing the research expertise of Legacy, they are placing doubt on the DAR data on Lt. Peter Jones (PA) being the father of Edmund Philip Jones, 1780 -1818, dying in Illinois.   DAR record state Peter died 1820 in Illinois.  Transcribed bible record states Edmund and Cassandra (Phelps) married @ 1798 and started family in Pompey and Fabius,  New York, Baptist Church records.  Edmund and Peter appear in tax records in the area of Pompey, along with other Jones men, from 1799 through about 1810.  The Phelps family also appear in tax records from Fabius during that time. How does one find the true parentage of Edmund Philip Jones?  Any help appreciated.  S Reif Sent from my Galaxy Tab® A

William is believed by man to be a son of Charles but in his marriage certificate, he stated he was the son of William Stapleton. Were William Sr and J.G. brothers? If not, who was William Sr? 3. We thought that the Independence Day holiday would be a great time to start posting the NARA M881 series (Compiled Service Records of soldiers who served in the American Army during the Revolutionary war). We already have the unit records available on our site and have begun posting the individual veteran service records starting with the Continental Troops. Over 17,000 pages of records for men serving in the 1st Regiment Artillery are ready for browsing. We will be posting records throughout the remainder of the holiday and then on a monthly basis. recordhunter.researchandrecords.com/revwar-service-records.php recordhunter.researchandrecords.com/revwar-service-records.php And now, our usual closing… Rootsweb is a great resource for researchers to assist one another; as such, this email is meant as an informational post and not a discussion. 1. [1776] Rev War unit service records added to Record Hunter
    2. TD Maloney via
    3. DigitalCambria has added over 29,000 pages of Revolutionary War compiled unit service records to Record Hunter Search (RHSearch.com) covering 217 military units from Connecticut, Rhode Island, Virginia and the Continental Troops. Records are also online for Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Vermont. Unit service records are a great compliment to the records of individual veterans and can provide additional insight into a patriot’s service. Many unit records contain troop movements and assignments as well as encampments and the battles in a unit participated. The records added have not been indexed beyond the state and unit name; however, as time progresses items will be searchable by the names, places, battles, etc. found in the documents. Record Hunter, host of thousands of free records and resources for researchers, can be accessed at www.RHSearch.com. Rootsweb is a great resource for researchers to assist one another; as such, this email is meant as an informational post and not a discussion. If you should encounter an error on the website, or wish to provide feedback, please use the site's contact form. TD Maloney Director of Research CM&R www.DigitalCambria.com

He served as a private in the 7th Company under Capt. Samuel Walles from Gastonbury in the 2nd Battalion, Colonel Fisher Gay commanding.

    3. You can try the National Archives in Philadelphia on Market Street. They have micro film of the muster rolls of the Continental army. You will have to go there to review the files. The people are very helpful so tell them what you are looking for they will direct you to the appropriate files. Viewing the files is free but you have to pay for copies. Bring a lot of quarters. -----Original Message----- From: 1776-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:1776-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of elizabeth Sent: Monday, July 08, 2013 6:59 PM To: 1776@rootsweb.com Subject: [1776] obtain records of Rev War soldier? 3. I have a list of men under Capt. Parkers Coy in 1776 with the Connecticuit State Troops. There is a missing soldier George White reported missing Sept. 15. I believe this unit took part in the Battle of Long Island. My ancester Georg White was taken Prisioen and pressed into service with the British on 03 Sept 1776 at Long Island. Is it possible to find out if they are the same person and if so any ideas where to start?   Harley White
